Solar Thermal Testing Cheap Solar Power is Coming Soon! Really cool Video (1min 54sec) of Solar Thermal Testing at Angel's Nest - fresnel lens and turbines. Sir Charles explains and demonstrates Low cost solar thermal power system - sunlight to turbine power.
"This is the prototype solar energy collection system that we've designed. It's being put together and tested for the first time today. We've already circulated oil through it. Just in a static test, sunlight raised the temperature in our heat collector pipes to over 180ºF. As soon as we have the suntracking on this in a continuous basis we should be able to generate 6,000 watts of electrical power and heat waste power as a result."
Angel's Nest, the sustainable energy demonstration showcase in Taos, New Mexico, built by Robert Plarr and Victoria Peters, incorporates wind and solar power, a renewable hydrogen fueling station, and integrated greenhouses in a unique closed loop, grid-independent energy and water replenishment cycle.
