The B-Side Players
The music of the B-Side Players of San Diego, Aztlán represents the renacimiento of musical cultural renaissance of Chicano(a), Mexicano(a), Latino(a), Indigena, Africano(a) and International Liberation movements. Poetic, idealistic, and revolutionary lyrics and rhythms give birth to a Nueva Canción genre produced in the post-modern world, within the entrails of the United States Empire. The innovative creation is a hybrid gift of influences and legacies from all corners of the globe, exclusively produced in Aztlán for the rest of the world.
Dan Bern
Dan Bern
Dan Bern
Dan Bern is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and painter. His music is often compared to that of Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello. His song "Talkin' Woody, Bob, Bruce, and Dan Blues," from the album Smartie Mine, offers a joking take on this influence, presented in the style of a Guthrie or Dylan talking blues song, and containing a spoof of a Dylan song as well.) Bernstein has also toured with Ani DiFranco. He is known for sardonic, literary lyrics, a range of musical styles, and a folk music style paired with rock instrumentation.

  Michael Franti & Spearhead

Yerba Buena
Yerba Buena
Yerba Buena
The brainchild of acclaimed producer Andres Levin, New York's Latin-funk collective Yerba Buena came together as an outgrowth of Levin's extensive discography, including work as principal producer of the Red Hot Organization's applauded Red Hot + Riot album (year-end TOP-10 in Rolling Stone, TIME & The New York Times). That intense critical praise was just as instant and far-reaching with Yerba Buena's 2003 Grammy nominated debut album President Alien. The group's super-infectious live-band party feel totally changed everyone's idea of new Latin groove with a mind-bendingly original, Afro-Cuban/Afrobeat/hiphop attack.

Liza Oxnard
Liza
Liza
The fabulous Liza Oxnard - For those of you not familiar with the history, before Billy Nershi (The String Cheese Incident) and Liza Oxnard (Zuba) ever hit the road as part of their respective successful nationally touring bands, the two were friends and musical collaborators in the small town of Telluride, Colorado. Billy and Liza would occasionally cross paths but they never recorded together, that is until they collaborated on the bluegrassy "It's About Time"

The Duhks
The Duhks
The Duhks
The five practiced, risk-taking twenty-something musicians and singers who make up this singular new band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba will, if asked, good-naturedly toss out some of the attempts at labels astonished listeners have turned to…In the two years that they've been a unit, many have tried to describe The Duhks' music-- "contemporary acoustic," "progressive soul-grass," and “kick-ass rock/folk fusion” being just a few of the attempts to classify the group.

Ani DeFranco
Ani DeFranco
Ani DiFranco
Ani DiFranco is a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist perpetually on the move. From the raw "folk punk" of her early albums through the jazz/funk grooves she created during her years touring with a five-piece band to the twists and turns of her current work as a solo artist, Ani's restless creativity continually leads her and her listeners into ever more exciting territory.

Steel Pulse
Steel Pulse
Steel Pulse
Probably the UK's most highly-regarded roots reggae outfit, Steel Pulse originally formed at Handsworth Wood Boys School, Birmingham, and comprised David Hinds (lead vocals, guitar), Basil Gabbidon (lead guitar, vocals) and Ronnie McQueen (bass). However, it is Hinds who, as songwriter, has always been the engine behind Steel Pulse, from their early days establishing themselves in the Birmingham club scene onwards. Formed in 1975, their debut release, 'Kibudu, Mansetta And Abuku" arrived on the small independent label Dip, and linked the plight of urban black youth with the image of a greater African homeland. They followed it with 'Nyah Love' for Anchor.

Buddy Miller
Buddy Miller
Buddy Miller
Buddy Miller is a master of many disciplines – but note how all this mastery is ultimately pressed into service. With Your Love and Other Lies (1995), Poison Love (1997), Cruel Moon (1999), the co-billed Buddy and Julie Miller (2001, a 2001 Grammy™ nominee for Best Contemporary Folk Album), Midnight and Lonesome (2002), and his latest, Buddy has created a niche in American music all his own. Buddy Miller’s singularity is in his willingness to subordinate his extravagant technical gifts to a specific program: the creation of a music that is purposefully personal, naturally eccentric, and spiritually substantial. In this way he is to music as someone like Michael Powell is to film or Flannery O’Connor to literature. He is, simply, a thoroughgoing auteur, the only one in country music.
