Video (2min 34sec): Defense of Scott McClellan. Cenk Uygur: "Hey, man, somebody's got to defend him now because people are going to get the missed impression that he's doing this for his own purposes and he's not telling the truth, when in fact when you read the book and you hear him talk, it is patently obvious that he's telling the exact truth now.
"One, he didn't have to go this far. Two, everything he's said jives with what we've heard in previous accounts - where Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld bulldozed Condoleeza Rice - George Bush doesn't really know what he's doing, he's not intellectually curious and he looks around and Rice says 'OK, all right, yeah, sure, go with what Cheney's saying.' And Bush then convinces himself 'oh, we're not lying,' etc...."
In 1999, when they are on the campaign trail, and he (McClellan) asks Bush about his cocaine use and Bush says, 'yeah, I don't remember, man, we had some wild parties back then - I don't remember anything.' And McClellan says to himself wow man that doesn't sound like it's true. Who would forget if they did cocaine or not? A clearly illegal substance. The thing is McClellan at that point is such a boy scout - 'golly gee willikers, that is an illegal substance. One would imagine you would remember such a thing.' - where Bush was like Psssht, he's been breaking the rules since he was a little kid and then his dad and everyone else has been bailing him out..."
