A woman in Israel has outlived most official record-keeping, and for that reason Mariam Amash's real age may never be truly known. However, her newly issued identity card shows she was born in 1888, making her twice as old as the country she lives in.

"Bathing in the warmth of the early Spring sunlight and all the unaccustomed attention, Mariam displays her new Israeli ID card which gives her date of birth as 1888.
