- The state of the military's 'Don’t Ask, Don't Tell' policy reminds me of the tail-end of a lopsided football game, when all the players basically mill around on the field pickin' their noses waiting for the clock to run out. The DADT policy is kaput, but we still have to stand next to the carcass for 49 more days before we let the buzzards haul it away.
- Things are off to a rough start in New York. In nine days, only 310 heterosexual marriages have been destroyed by gay marriage there. Homosexual activists are reassessing their strategy and tweaking their tactics, with a target goal of 500 wrecked straight marriages per week by early September.
- Speaking of failed marriages: The conservative gay group GOProud has received divorce papers from the American Conservative Union:
As a courtesy to your organization, a previous co-sponsor of CPAC, this letter serves to inform you GOProud will not be invited to participate in a formal role for CPAC events scheduled during the 2012 election cycle.
But they get to keep the blender.
- So, like, what the hell's the status on the Prop. 8 ruling? I'm glad you asked! Judge Vaughn Walker's meticulous, air-tight ruling that Prop. 8 is unconstitutional is currently being appealed…but it may turn out that the appealers ain't got no standing to appeal at all. Oral arguments will be heard on September 6th. Better yet, they'll be televised. The anti-gay forces HATE being televised in court---sunlight burns their souls.
- If an anti-gay hate group loses its tax-exempt status, does it make a sound? Yup---it sounds like "Wah."
- The Daily Show's Mo Rocca comes out. I always liked him best.
- The latest Major League Baseball team to release an "It gets Better" video: the Baltimore Orioles. The Nationals, Twins, Mariners and Phillies will release theirs soon. Oh, and to my 4th-grade classmate who deliberately threw a pitch that hit me in the second inning of a minor league game at Phillips Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio in the summer of 1973: Yes, I am still plotting my revenge. (He didn’t even say sorry or nuthin'.)
