This video (4min 53sec) called 'What is Your Carbon Footprint?' features Mark Leno (D-SF) talking about bold reform to stop global warming and asks people to calculate their individual carbon footprint.
Mark Leno talks about how, in San Francisco, they've decided to cover every square inch of the roof-tops of every city-owned building with solar panels - rooftops of hospitals, schools, jails and airport. An important step in the use of photo-voltaic technology, because they have passed the first of its kind $100 million dollar solar revenue bond.
The national average for carbon footprint is something like 7.1-7.2 tons of carbon dioxide per year depending upon the kind of car you drive, the amount of miles you travel each year, the number of airplane trips you take, the size of you electric bill, the size of your heating bill, natural gas bill.
Note: This video is a bit funky but the topic is very good so it's been posted here. Also, check below for links to Carbon Footprint Calculators.
