Access Denied details the impact of the Global Gag Rule on reproductive health programs in Zambia, one of the poorest countries in Africa. At a time when one in five adults is infected with HIV and nearly 70 percent of the population is under the age of 24, the gag rule has deprived Zambia's primary family planning agency of critical U.S. assistance.
"Women in Zambia and throughout sub-Saharan Africa have little access to contraceptives and pregnancy after pregnancy means that they have no time to pursue education, to contribute economically or to plan for their children's future. The United States government has been the leading source of reproductive health funding and technical expertise in the developing world..."
