NEW YORK · Barack Obama's nomination of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state was all but assured yesterday as aides revealed ways had been found to overcome potential conflict issues involving former president Bill Clinton's business and charitable dealings. Mrs. Clinton was preparing to resign her seat as New York senator in preparation for taking on the job, her camp said, while Obama insiders said the president-elect would make a formal announcement after next week's Thanksgiving holiday.
