Audio of lively and informative talk show discussion about "The Web", local Web history, portals & networks & links, and using Web for the benefit of Taos. From the KVOT talk show "The Education of Pattee Brown" with Alex Chavez, Ty Hannigan, and J. R. Ransom. Aired live August 3, 2007.
"A local person working independently, a local company or whatever, can offer information better than those big companies. And I don't think we should rely on those big companies, like hotels.com or realestate.com. Build your own. We're in a war with them. They just want to take as much money as they can out of here. So, as an evangelist for why Taos should do it, do it or Die. Oh, you've got a cute little gallery? Maybe you won't have that in the future..." - J. R. Ransom
"We're building our own search engine, quote unquote search engine for lack of a better word. And it behooves the Taos industries to be aware of us, but it's interesting Taosenos for some strange reason don't really take local businesses seriously. If you're big and out of town, New York, L. A., Chicage, they'll take you far more seriously than they will if you are a local Taos industry. It's a loss that we have because we do have valuable services right here in town..." - Ty Hannigan
"I think we touched on three aspects that would make your Web site successful. One, have having as many links coming into it and going out of it as possible. This is the google algorhythm. That's what made them king of the block. They look at you site, if you have a lot of links coming in and going out, this guy's popular and deserves a high ranking. The other aspect is what are they going to do when they get to your site? You need a well developed site..." Alex Chavez
