Tony Cheng examines how Chinese state investment is attracting more Han Chinese to the region, who are in turn taking jobs and resources away from ethnic Tibetans. "...and the government's spending on big budget projects, too. The new train line that links Tibet to the rest of China is bringing in freight as well as tourists. This place is likely to change Lhasa and the whole of Tibet immeasurably. It's the new freight station. And materials like these used to be trucked across the Himalayas in a process that took weeks. Now they can get here in less than 48 hours..."
