New Media is Ours

This "New Media" has shifted the whole mass media landsape of the world. So much more information is available about a broad range of topics - in fact Every Topic - now through video. And this is a basic component of the truth. When we all had only the small bits of video/audio news provided by the three major TeeVee networks and traditional radio stations, it was our only real source of what we generally thought of as "truth."

The 24 hour cable TV news stations and radio stations added a whole new potential to our exposure to the "truth" about so many situations in the world. Still, those could be manipulated by corporations and governments into "half-truths, and down-right lies, as we all have seen.

Now it is different. I have often told Taos locals and others that the taosplaza.com site was not competing with other local web sites, but was really competing with CNN and Fox news, it was the truth. Now it is possible to see many sides of a story if a concerned citizen "drills down into it", as Bill Gates says. Whatever the topic, if an interested individual does their homework about a topic it is possible to get a real good handle on what is truth and what is lies.

The traditional media has actually been an obstruction to the truth because there are so many "filters" (i. e., censorship) that has been imposed by the natural time limits of broadcast media and the size limits of print media. Now it is completely different. The cable network give a tiny (really tiny) bit of news coverage and a ton of 'opinion'. They give us, the American people, the tiniest glimpse of stories, but never the full picture. They give us downright lies then poll the population to find out if the lies are believed. And if the lie isn't believe, then they alter the lie to try to make it more believable, then poll again. Sick, huh?

Now we don't have to be afraid that we do not know the truth, because now you can search and search for the truth. Now you can find out things that the American people and all the people of the world have never had access to before.

The situations the world faces are very serious in a whole new way. A whole new manner of dealing with those situations has been given to all of us. Please join with us to fully use this God-given freedom to exchange the truth between ourselves.
