If you love flying in reality and/or in cyberspace..., here's a demonstration video (5min 17sec) of The Fabulous Crossplatform X-Plane by Austin Meyer. The computer was always designed as a flight simulator, with calculations for x, y and z axis right at the core of the technology. But what you have here with X-Plane 8 is something that takes that concept a very long way.
You can fly just about any plane you want, all with true flight characteristics. There's pretty much every airport in the world in the full installation - which is like over 60GB - which needs a bit heftier machine. While the scenery of earlier versions of X-Plane was good and geographically extruded based on Earth's altitude records, the scenery of X-Plane 8 has super excellent detail. X-Plane software works with Apple, Windows, Linux and the cost of $49 (marked down from $69) is nothing compared to the hours of enjoyment for folks like me..., and maybe you. You can actually get real time weather for this thing! And it seems to be certified for pilot training. Can be used with joystick or mouse. What more can we say?
