Video (4min 6sec): Barack Obama on McCain's Many Houses. Barack Obama speaks about John McCain's 'fundamental disconnect' with Americans. Barack Obama spoke out about the economic challenges America faces at a town hall in Chester, VA on August 21, 2008.
"John McCain is offering more of the same. He said a while back that he thought that we had made great progress economically during the years that George Bush has been in office. That raised some eyebrows. Great progress economically - Who's he talking to? And it turns out you get a sense of who he's talking to because..., some of you saw the Saddleback forum with Rick Warren..., he (McCain) was asked well who do you consider rich? He thought about it for a second - well I don't know. Maybe if you make 5 million dollars. 5 million dollars, then you're rich. Which means, I guess, if you're only making 3 million dollars a year then you're middle class... His top economic advisors said the other day that America has become a nation of whiners. That all these economic problem everyone talking about, it's just a mental recession, and if you would just change you mind, everything would be OK. Somebody's been laid off, their plants closed gone to Mexico or China, change your mind. It's all good... "
