NEW DELHI: A hair transplant expert has been directed by a consumer court to pay a refund and compensation of Rs 60,000 ($1,487.36) to a patient whose baldness could not be cured to his satisfaction. The procedure could not be completed in one sitting, as promised, and left the complainant in extreme pain.

State Consumer Commission president Justice J D Kapoor held doctor V S Malik guilty of deficiency in service for not delivering the kind of results which were promised to the complainant Avik Mukherjee and also for not completing the procedure in one sitting and subjecting the complainant to mental agony.

Taos Teens Kicked Off Train 600 Miles from Home Print E-mail

Stranded, alone and hundreds of miles from home, four Taos, New Mexico teens were left in western Arizona after they were kicked off a train. The teens, ranging in age from 12 to 15, were returning to New Mexico by Amtrak train Friday night after a trip to California. Trouble began when a passenger's iPod disappeared and one of the four New Mexico teens was accused of stealing it. That's when the train conductor kicked the teens off the train in Kingman, Arizona.

UNICEF has damned Britain and the United States as the worst places for children to live among wealthy nations, in a new report which caused widespread soul-searching.

The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Finland topped the 21 industrial powers assessed for the child well-being report released Wednesday.

Britain's youngsters had the worst relationships with their family and peers, suffered more from poverty and indulged in more "binge drinking" and hazardous sex than children in other wealthy nations, said the report.

The United States placed 20 and Britain 21 on the list.

One of the most visited but rarely mentioned as a tourist destination in Taos is the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram. This tranquil space with very beautiful gardens is a place where those in the know go to take a breather while travelling in the southwest. There's nothing to 'do' here which is part of the charm of this place.

Inside the ashram is a temple with an exquisite statue of Hanuman. Hanuman is a very revered figure in Hinduism and there could well be at least a million 'Hanuman temples' in the world. The Taos Hanuman statue is very unique in He is flying. This is very rare among Hanuman statues because three styles seem to predominate among the tens of millions of Hanumans in temples and homes out there.
