Swami Rama My Master Casts Off His Body by Swami Rama. One day in July 1945 my
master said that he wished to cast off his body. I argued with him: “It
is written in the scriptures that the master who leaves a foolish
disciple in the world is committing a sin and goes to perdition.” So he
said, “Okay, then I will not cast off my body, because you are still a
fool and ignorant.”
Then in the year 1954, shortly before I was to leave for Germany, I was
taking a bath in the Ganges and thought, “That was not right for me to
do. I should not have forced him to stay bound to his body, as he has
already given me so much.”
When I went to my master I didn’t tell him of my thought, but he said,
“Ask the other swamis to come at five-thirty this evening for the last
teachings I want to impart.” We were at a height of 11,600
feet near a shrine in the Himalayas. This place is situated between
Basudhara and Badrinath. |

Martial Artist vs Warrior A Martial Artist Wears Out Early But A Warrior Gets Better With Age By Jeffrey Miller. Anyone who has spent any time observing the conventional world of martial arts, especially those involved in tournaments and competitive events, should have noticed a very unique phenomena...
...the seniors - the "old guys'" - division starts at about age 30!
Now, I don't know about you, but at forty-four, I don't feel much like a senior. But, I have to ask myself, how can it be in Today's world that modern martial artists are considered to be too old to compete against a younger opponent when in ancient Japan, China, and Korea...
...that was the norm?!
Even from a self-defense perspective, who is more likely to be the victim of a criminal attacker; someone middle-aged, in their thirties or fourties, who's slower and less fit, with money and credit cards in their wallet... |

School Security School Security - Jumbo Shrimp By Ned Vare. “If I had to choose, I’d rather the state feed and clothe my children than let it educate them.” -- Iowa grain dealer, Max Belz.
“School security” is an oxymoron. Despite what school officials might say, no one is safe in public schools. I’m not talking about mad shooters. The primary attack on children comes from within the schools, not from outside, and it is constant. It comes from the poorly educated staff, the boring classes, the academic mediocrity, the distrust, the coercion, the bullying, the unfair rules and restrictions. Together, those create the culture, the climate of frustration and anger. In turn, that causes some people to commit the violence -- often extreme. Public school makes everyone its victim. Consider the following: |

Tarot Origins And History Of The Tarot by Sandra Johnson. The origins of the Tarot are surrounded with myth and lore. It is hard to know for sure what the facts are. The Tarot has been thought to come from places like India, Egypt, China and Morocco. Others say the Tarot was brought to us from the Sufis or the Jewish Cabbalists. Still others contend that the origin of the tarot was from Moses. In the library of Alexandria, in Egypt, there were scrolls that were based on the Book of Thoth, an ancient book that came from Egypt’s mystery schools. One theory is that the illustrations on the Tarot cards are secret teachings of the Book of Thoth hidden in the innocent pictures.
It seems that wherever there was a secret ‘word of mouth’ tradition handed down from teacher to pupil, it was hailed as the origin or beginning of Tarot. A large group believed it was the Gypsies who brought the tarot to Europe, the word gypsy being a corrupted version of Egyptian. That is highly unlikely, since evidence points to gypsies not using Tarot until the 20th century. Before that, palmistry was their preferred method of fortune telling. |

Love in the Stars Love is in the Stars - Relationship Astrology part 1 - Elemental Astrology by Sadasiva (Sam Geppi). This is #1 in a series of relationship astrology articles.
Relationship astrology is nothing new, yet it is experiencing a renaissance these days as more and more people rediscover the ancient, holistic wisdom that astrology offers. Thousands of years ago, every culture used astrology. The human beings who lived on Earth at the time developed subtle and meaningful spiritual technologies; astrology was among them. Just as humans today develop technologies that bring about more convenience and entertainment, ancient cultures everywhere developed subtle and magical systems awakening. Astrology, as the science of universal energy and unfolding time, was chief among them.
Even the most cursory look at a basic Astrology book will show the importance of masculine and feminine energy in life. There are two female and two male elements in the astrology chart. Each element is repeated three times through different modalities. (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable) |
