Second video (1min 4sec) of New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson speaking about Marijuana at Taos Mountain Film Festival in 2002: "Pot Smokers Don't Belong in Treatment." "The fundamental problem with US policy is as follows. If you smoke pot, the government believes one of two things. One is that you should go to jail or two, you should go to treatment. That's it! And I reject that, in that I don't believe that the vast majority of people that smoke pot don't belong in treatment at all. They smoke pot like other people have cocktails in the evening. They don't do any harm to anyone else. They don't get behind the wheel of a car. Again, fundamentally they've made a choice. I wouldn't agree with that choice. I don't think they should be behind bars..."

Third video of New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson speaking about Marijuana and drugs at Taos Mountain Film Festival in 2002: "Marianne Gomez Valasquez." "Regarding two recent commutations of sentences in New Mexico. One was Marianne Gomez Valasquez. I don't know if you saw how publicized this was a couple of months ago.

"But Marianne who is now 40 years old, at the age of 14, became addicted to Tylenol 3 with codeine. At fourteen. The recurring cycle in her life was that doctors would prescribe Tylenol 3 with codeine. They would end the prescription and she was addicted so she had to continue to take the drug, so she would write herself false prescriptions for the drugs. Over the course of her life, she wrote herself one hundred and fifty prescriptions for Tylenol 3 with codeine.

Fourth video (1min 19sec) of New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson about Marijuana at speaking at Taos Mountain Film Festival in 2002: "Americans Against the War on Drugs." "I'm asked a lot what I'm going to do when I get out of office. I've started a drug reform organization 'Americans Against the War on Drugs'. I believe the real stumbling block here is with politicians, elected and those running for office. So, it would be my intension to meet with every single Governor, every single Congressperson, every single US Senator and expand that to those running for those offices and confidentially speak to them as to what is currently happening. I really don't believe they understand what's happening. Make it a meeting these people can understand what happening, something that currently isn't happening. If you're from NORML..."

Fifth video of New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson at speaking about Marijuana and drugs at Taos Mountain Film Festival in 2002: "Prisoners For Drug-Related Crimes in New Mexico". "What I've said was I would certainly like to pardon people who are there strictly on the basis use, abuse. I really becomes difficult. The majority of the people who are in prison in this country are in Federal prisons as a result of having sold small amounts of drugs on nemerous occasions. And that, I think, is over 50%. I can't touch that group. In state prisons, it's a bit more complicated. You have people in my opinion..., First of all, how many are incarcerated in New Mexico as a result of drug-related crime? I would say over half. But it becomes more complicated because these people are involved... I believe 90% of the problems we have with drugs today have to do with prohibition, not use. And that's not to discount the problems with use..."

Sixth video of New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson about Marijuana and drugs at speaking at Taos Mountain Film Festival in 2002: "Education and New Mexico Taxes". "America is America. It's based on better product. It's based on better service. Lower price. I submit to you that hgher education in this country is nothing more than a form of school choice. It's kids with tuition dollars. It's institutions out to attract those tuition dollars. Why have we allowed the government to run public education? It slays me. The government runs anything, it's just a little bit worse product, just a little bit worse service and it costs more. Yet we've allowed that to happen in the area of education. And with regard to our having development in New Mexico, it's no mystery. We're having our money taxed to death out of us here in this state. In percentage of income, we're like the highest-taxed state in the United States..."
