Collective Soul is an American rock band from Stockbridge, Georgia. They enjoyed popularity on alternative rock and mainstream rock radio throughout the early to mid 1990s, recording seven #1 mainstream rock hits. Current Band Members: Ed Roland, Dean Roland, Joel Kosche, Will Turpin, and Ryan Hoyle. Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead and come across the phrase "collective soul." Although author Ayn Rand actually uses the phrase in a negative connotation, using the "collective soul" as a threat to the main character's sense of individualism, Ed is quick to point out, "...we're not preaching Ayn Rand, objectivism, egoism, or anything...we just dug the name..."

COMING TO TAOS!. Video (6min 52sec): Susan Tedeschi ~ "Feeling Music Brings". Susan Tedeschi appears in Taos at the very excellent Taos Solar Music Fest in June.

After establishing herself as one of New England's top-drawing live acts, and making her recording debut with her embryonic 1995 album Better Days, Tedeschi achieved an impressive musical and commercial breakthrough with Just Won't Burn. The album, on the independent Tone-Cool label, became a massive grass-roots success, with a minimum of hype and plenty of old-fashioned word of mouth.

Just Won't Burn achieved Gold sales status and won Tedeschi a GRAMMY® nomination for Best New Artist, alongside such unlikely company as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray and Kid Rock. Tedeschi's next release, 2002's acclaimed, two-time GRAMMY®-nominated Wait for Me, was produced by legendary studio veteran Tom Dowd, and coincided with her marriage to Trucks and the birth of the couple's son Charlie.

COMING TO TAOS. Video (3min 45sec): Pacifika - Me Caí. Pacifika appears in Taos at the very excellent Taos Solar Music Fest in June.

Pacifika is the multi-talented Silvana Kane, a Peruvian born singer, re-formed pop sensation (West End Girls), and accomplished actress with a love of flamenco, electronica, and textured percussion; Adam Popowitz a Canadian bred guitarist adept at new wave, classical, and pop, and a skilled producer responsible for a catalogue that includes indie rock and Armenian folk music; and Toby Peter, a dub wise bassist born in Canada and raised in Barbados, explorer of jazz, hip-hop, metal and Caribbean grooves.

Together the Vancouver based trio is making a new kind of global pop, music that nods to its diverse international influences, while forging its own unique voice. Jazz infused and Latin tinged, marked by gently flowing melodies, deep grooves, waves of cracking percussion and the occasional burst of exhilarating guitar noise, Pacifika’s comfortable, complex sound defies categories, creating soothing soundscapes held together by Kane’s smooth, intimate vocals.

COMING TO TAOS! Video (6min 39sec): The Coup: "5 Million Ways to Kill a CEO". The Coup appears in Taos at the very excellent Taos Solar Music Fest in June. Kicking off with a classic line by frontman Boots Riley—“I’m a walking contradiction/Like bullets and love mixin'…,"

In 2003, THE COUP joined with Billy Bragg, Steve Earle, Tom Morello, and Janeane Garofalo, on the barnstorming, Bush-slapping “Tell Us the Truth” tour. Working with those artists proved influential on Pick A Bigger Weapon. “This album took a bit longer, because all of these influences were getting a chance to settle,” says Boots.“I always think my next album is gonna be my last,” Boots laughs, “like it may not sell and I’ll have to do something else. So it drives me to make an album that people might remember as the best one I did.”

Video (8min 39sec) Visit to New Mexico in the 1940s. A tour of New Mexico, its cities, historical sites and tourist attractions. "In the heart of the great southwest between Arizona and Texas, and bordering on the Republic of Mexico, lies 'the Sunshine State' in this land of ours - the State of New Mexico. One of the largest yet one of the least populated of all of our states, New Mexico was admitted to the Union as recently as 1912.

"Centuries before the Spaniards came, the region was inhabited by Indians who developed a high degree of civilization. They lived in huge communal houses. When Francisco Vasquez de Coronado explored this region in the early part of the 16th century he called these strange villages 'pueblos'.

"Today descendants of the Indians of Coronado's day still inhabit this region. Many still live the simple existence of their forefathers. Baking bread using methods discovere long before Columbus discovered America and making shoes the way their ancestors did many centuries before.

One of the most colorful periods of New Mexico's history is associated with the westward expansion of our nation. Here at Taos, lived Kit Carson, famous scout and Indian fighter..."
