Jim Hightower Jim Hightower's Save the GOP from Socialism Video (1min 57sec). Republicans don't think millions of children deserve health insurance? Well, then, neither does the GOP!
"It's always impressive to see a politician take an unbending stand on principal, so I salute George W., for going against popular opinion by vetoing the SChip bill.
It would have extended coverage to some six million uninsured children in our country. Bush said that what irked him about this health proposal is the principal of providing government financed coverage which he derided as federalized medicine.
George, you see, is a die-hard privatization ideolog. And he insists that people should get their health care from the free market not the government. The vast majority of his Republican cohorts in Congress agreed..." |

Professor Howard Zinn In honor of Professor Howard Zinn coming to speak in Taos - American Historian and activist Howard Zinn speaks about the history of war. Can a war be just? Howard Zinn Video (5min 59sec): On The Stupidity Of War.
Mark Gordon: "Can we ever have a just war?"
Howard Zinn: "I don't think so any more, if we ever could in the past. The technology of warfare has reached the point where war is always the indiscriminate killing of huge numbers of people. I mean wars at one time were fought between armies - soldiers killed soldiers. Now, and we heard tonight Dr. Gino Strada the Italian war surgeon tell us that the victims he takes care of in the hospitals in Afghanistan and Iraq are ninety percent civilians, thirty percent of them children. In a situation like this, war cannot be accepted any more as a way of solving the problems we have in the world..." |

President John Adams The Beginning of the End of America Video (8min 41sec). "We have lived as if in a trance. We have lived as people in fear. And now, our rights and our freedoms in peril, we slowly awaken to learn that we have been afraid of the wrong thing."
Keith Olbermann takes Bush on for the "Military Commissions Act" and the death of Habeas Corpus. "And if you somehow think Habeas Corpus has not been suspended for American citizens but only for everybody else, ask yourself this: If you are pulled off the street tomorrow, and they call you an alien or an undocumented immigrant or an "unlawful enemy combatant" — exactly how are you going to convince them to give you a court hearing to prove you are not? |

Gore Vidal Video (7min 15sec): Gore Vidal on the Media - Have TV journalists learned anything from the last several years? Says Vidal: "Everybody with an IQ above room temperature is on to the con act of our media. They are obeying bigger, richer interests than informing the public -- which is the last thing that corporate America has ever been interested in doing." "It's when the news starts to break how two elections (2000, 2004) were stolen and the New York Times would not review the book written about it by Congressman Conyers, nor the Washington Post, nor The Wall Street Journal. The great instruments of news were silent. Well, what they're saying is 'we don't give a God-damn about the United States. Just stew in your own juice. Just leave us alone. We have corporate figures to add up now, and ah we have certain things we want to put in place. We may have a couple of candidates for you dumb-dumbs, but you probably won't like them.' You know, I've been around the ruling class all my life and I've been quite aware of their total contempt for the people of the country..." |
