Saud & FDR
This video (7min 56sec) is a trailer for the documentary 'Blood and Oil' - A Declaration of Dependence, which gives a view of the history behind the US dependence on Saudi Arabia's oil all the way back to FDR.

"Franklin Roosevelt first looked ahead and saw that the United States eventually would become dependent and he was the one who pioneered a foreign policy based on oil.

"Roosevelt understood that oil was a decisive in America's victory in World War II. We triumphed over the Germans and Japanese true by military prowess and the leadership of our generals, but also because the US had a superior industrial capacity. We were able to produce so many thousands of tanks and planes and we had the petroleum to fuel those weapons whereas the Germans and Japanese did not..."

Haitian Famine
Video (3min 7sec): 'How World Bank Policies Led to Famine in Haiti'.

"Brasilian soldiers handed out food to the residents of a shanty town in Haiti on Tuesday in the calm of the rioting over food prices. No country has escaped the effects of escalating wheat and rice prices though the poorer nations like Haiti have been hardest hit."

Raj Patel: "Haiti at the moment is a place of incredible turmoil. For months, people in Haiti have been going hungry..."

"Recent rises in the price of rice have tipped people over the edge. Last week 5 people were killed in food protests - four protesters and one UN peace keeper.

Tibetan protesters
In New Delhi, Tibetans Protest Chinese Occupation Video (3min 1sec) by J. R. Ransom. This daily march is part of an all-day protest that has been going on for weeks in New Delhi, the capitol of India. Many of the protesters are on hunger strike. This is coincident with the arrival of Olympic torch and the 'Torch 4 Tibet' counter demonstration.

Thousand of protesters have been gathered for weeks in New Delhi to protest the 'crack-down' of the Chinese on the people of Tibet. These people are pleading with the world to help stop the torture and murder of their people..., pleading for the very essence of their peaceful ancient culture.

Tibet, which once existed as an independent buffer state for more than 2000 years between the two Asian Giants, India and China, was invaded by Communist China in 1945. By 1959, China illegally occupied the whole of Tibet. This resulted in the escape of H. H. the Dalai Lama into exile in India and followed by some 85,000 Tibetans.

Tibetans have suffered great atrocities and destruction under the Chinese occupation. Over 1.2 million Tibetans died and 6,000 religious and cultural institutions, monuments and national heritage were destroyed.

World Wheat Crisis
In Wheat Crisis
This Global Pulse Video (5min 1sec) gives an interesting view of the World Wheat Crisis. In the U.S., pastries may cost a few pennies more.

But in Pakistan and Egypt, soaring wheat prices have caused bread riots, and in the poorest countries, babies will starve.

The wheat crisis is caused by a nexus of factors - drought in Australia, growing demand in Asia, market speculation, and even the use of food to make biofuels.

The effects make clear that the global economy is, for some, a trap they cannot see, or escape.

Video of Tibet Demonstration in New Delhi PDF Print E-mail

Stop Killing in Tibet
Stop Killing Tibet
There was very little (like, very little) coverage of this and it's good to document it and 'get the word out.' Video (3min 28sec) of Tibet Demonstration in New Delhi, India by J. R. Ransom. Hundreds of demonstrators over many days sat on Jantar Mantar Road in New Delhi, India to protest the slaughter of their brothers and sisters in Tibet by Chinese occupiers of their land.

This is a hunger strike.... The demonstrations are simple and peaceful and those who have the eyes to see the many photos of the Tibetan boys mutilated and killed so terribly by the Chinese military, will be deeply saddened.

India technically had banned these demonstrations, but this demonstration has been allowed to continue. Perhaps this is because everyone is so horrified by what must be the most overt and blatant of genocides in wiping out an entire culture in the name of modernization. From this demonstration, it's obvious what they are doing to these people now. It's more and more obvious all the time. So many have been killed in Tibet. Please help in any way you can.
