In Wheat Crisis

But in Pakistan and Egypt, soaring wheat prices have caused bread riots, and in the poorest countries, babies will starve.

The wheat crisis is caused by a nexus of factors - drought in Australia, growing demand in Asia, market speculation, and even the use of food to make biofuels.

The effects make clear that the global economy is, for some, a trap they cannot see, or escape.

Stop Killing Tibet

This is a hunger strike.... The demonstrations are simple and peaceful and those who have the eyes to see the many photos of the Tibetan boys mutilated and killed so terribly by the Chinese military, will be deeply saddened.

India technically had banned these demonstrations, but this demonstration has been allowed to continue. Perhaps this is because everyone is so horrified by what must be the most overt and blatant of genocides in wiping out an entire culture in the name of modernization. From this demonstration, it's obvious what they are doing to these people now. It's more and more obvious all the time. So many have been killed in Tibet. Please help in any way you can.

Dead GM Field

The next morning we meet a farmer who cultivates GM crops. He only wants to be filmed from behind. He doesn't want to be th black sheep of the community. Only because he was willing to speak to us about the negative aspects of cultivating GM soy. But there are plenty of negative aspects to talk about.

"He shows us what the soil looks like where GM soy is cultivated. Dry and dead from the use of the special herbicide. They kill every plant except the soy. But now some weeds are becoming resistant. Back on his farm, he shows us the soy. It is being stored under a tarpaulin. The farmers are dependent on Monsanto. The combination of patented GM products and herbicides has turned out to shackle the GM farmers. Nobody here is able to quit anymore..."
