Southwest Chief Train Travel....Across Country on the Southwest Chief by Bill Thomas. We were both looking forward to the trip. My sister had flown in from Washington State. We were going to travel across country by train on Amtrak's Southwest Chief, a train that winds Southwest from Chicago through Missouri, Kansas, the edge of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and through the Mojave Desert to California.
After spending a few days with family, we departed early one afternoon from Penn Central station in Baltimore. After a short trip to Washington D.C. we boarded the train that was to take us out to Chicago. By the first evening, we had traveled through West Virginia and into Ohio about the time we decided to settle down. We had figured on sleeping in the coach but soon found out that a dozen squealing kids and seats not made for sleeping wouldn't make for a fun trip. Fortunately there was one available, and we were quite relieved to spend the rest of the evening in our compact sleeping car watching the snow covered passing towns.< |

St Anton - Austria The World's 10 Top Ski Resorts By Rebecca Craig. Working for AITO (the Association of Independent Tour Operators for those who don't know) has some unusual benefits, the most exciting of these is the in depth specialist knowledge that our members can offer. In the field of ski holidays, for example, we represent over 30 independent tour operators who deal predominantly in ski packages and winter sports - that's a lot of knowledge that I have ready access to.
And from dipping into this resource, I've been able to compile a concise list of ten ski resorts that 10 of our members endorse on their websites. The immense combined expertise these ski operators boast means that I, despite not being a huge winter sports buff, feel confident to take their word and promote these as AITO's favourites.
So here are AITO's top ski resorts, along with the companies that offered them superlative laden endorsement. Narrowing the list down to the 10 best ski resorts was a real challenge, given that AITO members offer over 175 between them! |

Good Southwest Seat Getting a Great Seat on Southwest Airlines (Without Engaging In Fisticuffs With Other Passengers!) By Jan Mcinnis. So you want to fly for a dollar on Southwest, but you’re tired of sitting in the middle seat, at the back of the plane, smelling the restroom sanitizer spray? Yes, THE SECRET isn’t some law of attraction, it’s getting a good seat on an “open-seating” flight. After flying on gazillions of Southwest planes, touring as a corporate comedienne, I’ve figured it out! Here are ways to raise the odds that you’ll get a decent seat too.
IF THE PLANE ISN’T COMPLETELY FULL AND YOU’RE IN THE “A” OR “B” LINE. . . you of course want to get in a row where the middle seat stays empty!
Sit in rows 5 through 8. According to my unscientific research of watching people-patterns (no lab rats involved), I’ve noticed a people-pattern. Passengers tend to fill up the front couple rows first, THEN, starting with about row 5, if they see a person sitting in that row they head to the back, searching for a better seat!... |

Healthy Flying Aviation is the safest
form of public transportation. For the vast majority of the millions of
travellers who fly every year, air travel has no significant impact of
their health.
However, it is a well known fact that travelling long
distances in a pressurized cabin at altitude does have some effects on
the human body.
Here are a few simple tips to help make sure that you
arrive at your destination in tip-top shape.
Move About.
Change position often and avoid crossing your legs. Immobility poses
the greatest risk in developing clotting disorders such as deep vein
thronbosos (DVT) - whether you're on a plane, bus, or train.
Walk Around.
Get out of your seat and walk around the cabin regularly to improve
circulation. |
