iPhone named 2008 Gadget of the Year
After they tallied the votes, iPhone came up a big winner in the 2008 British Technology Awards. It not only claimed the award for Gadget of the Year but won the Best Mobile Technology, Most Stylish Technology, and Technological Innovation of the Year awards, as well. iTunes also won honors, seizing the Best Music Technology award for 2008.

Coming Attractions: The Secret Life of Bees

Haunted by the memory of her mother, Lily flees an abusive household with her friend Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson) and takes refuge with the Boatwright sisters (Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, and Sophie Okonedo). The film opens on October 17.

App Store Pick of the Week: Charleston City Slicker
While there are a number of tour-related travel applications available for iPhone and iPod touch, Charleston City Slicker ($9.99) appears to be the first to offer a multimedia walking tour ? complete with photos of key destinations, audio, and HD video. It also takes advantage of location services to alert you to restaurants and other points of interest. The developer plans tours for other cities in the future.

?iPhone 3G wins over BlackBerry? in battle for enterprise users
?Apple?s iPhone 2.0 OS brought Cisco VPN, Exchange Server e-mail, and native custom applications to Apple?s devices, bringing utility to the mix to make the iPhone an enterprise shoo-in,? reports Tom Yager (infoworld.com) in his comparison of the iPhone to the Blackberry. ?All of the iPhone?s standard applications are beautiful, responsive, and stable.? And, he says, ?iPhone?s deal maker is the App Store.?
