Video (2min 20sec) Taos honorary mayor Dennis Hopper got his star and is now a permanent part of Hollywood, literally.
Bandaged and looking frail, the 73-year-old actor, a former resident of Taos, and filmmaker was honored Friday with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
Dennis Hopper is really beloved in Taos, New Mexico and was largely responsible for the Taos Summer of Love in 2009.
"Everyone here today that I've invited, and obviously some that I haven't invited, have enriched my life tremendously.
"They have shown me a world that I would never have seen being a farm boy from Dodge City, Kansas, learning things I never would have learned.
"I went under contract to Warner Brothers when I was 18 years old so my collegues and everything I learned, I learned from Hollywood.
"I love all of you.
"Yeah, well I just want to thank you. That's all I can do."
