This year marks the 29th annual celebration of the hottest motorcycle rally in northern New Mexico. Red River is one of the most popular tourist destinations due to its scenic location and great climate. Centrally located in the beautiful north central mountains of New Mexico, Red River is the closest resort area to Texas and Oklahoma, as well as a short drive from Southern Colorado. At 8,750 feet above sea level, Red River is perched high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range and surrounded by 1.5 million acres of the Carson National Forest.
You can participate in the Rally activities that begin on Friday by registering at the Chamber booth located on Main Street and Jacks & Sixes for the Official “Run” that begins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Your $5 registration includes an Official pin or patch as well as a Player’s Card from Taos Mountain Casino. You can also sign-up for the 50/50 cash drawing that will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Cruise the “Enchanted Circle”; a scenic 84-mile tour that takes you through a spectacular alpine valley that includes Angel Fire and Eagle Nest, then make a stop in Taos at the Taos Mountain Casino to use your Player’s Card. The Rally is 1 mile of food, leather, jewelry, motorcycle accessories, live music, and of course 30,000 of the most awesome motorcycles ever seen!
The local saloons offer a variety of contests such as the best tattoo, strong man/strong woman, the longest ponytail, oldest Red River Rally t-shirt, and the farthest distance traveled on a motorcycle.
Monday begins with CMA non-denominational services followed with a ride up to Angel Fire for the parade and ceremonies at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park in Angel Fire.
Many rallies claim to have the most beautiful scenic rides. There is no way to really compare one area of our beautiful country to another, but Red River is definitely one of the top picks for the most scenic riding at a rally.
