taosplaza.com was always meant to be about using New Media because "the Web is television." The Web hasn't grown into it fully yet but it will get there soon. taosplaza.com has had video posted for many years - at least five. taosplaza.com even had our own YouTube sort of video server in Albuquerque that was used to house the videos that were posted on taosplaza.com and other sites. YouTube and google video and a number of others used the concept to make the posting and sharing of videos public..., in a big way.

This "New Media" has shifted the whole mass media landsape of the world. So much more information is available about a broad range of topics - in fact Every Topic - now through video. And this is a basic component of the truth. When we all had only the small bits of video/audio news provided by the three major TeeVee networks and traditional radio stations, it was our only real source of what we generally thought of as "truth."

A major change is happening to taosplaza.com during July of 2008. Please bare with us as we change over to a new look for taosplaza.com this month.

Over the past ten years taosplaza.com a gone through several stages of growth. Our most recent series of upgrades have increased the power and efficiency of taosplaza.com tremendously. We moved to a new and very powerful new hosting service. We've upgraded some back end technologies to improve speed and flexibility. We've begun deploying new services for taosplaza.com's global viewers. We've begun to increase our content at an ever growing rate. These are important times in the whole world and taosplaza.com provides information and insights about many important issues in clear and insightful ways that we hope provide a progressive 'new media' perspective on these issues that effect us all whether we are physically in Taos or elsewhere in the world.

We think that you'll really love some of the new features of taosplaza.com like translation into 24 languages from English to Hindi, from French to Chinese, and try Arabic, too. There's a way cool new moon phase calculator. And some old favorites are back, including, Daily Horoscopes, Daily Weather Forecasts, A new photo of sacred Taos Mountain every 15 seconds, as well as daily reports on ski resort conditions (in season). And we've got some other new features coming up in the future.

New Internet Hosting Service
The first major step taken during the summer of 2008 by Taos Music & Art, Inc. (TMA), owner / operator of taosplaza.com and the other sites of the taosplaza.com Group of Web sites was shifting Web site hosting to a new Internet Service Provider (ISP). Our earlier Taos-based ISP was an excellent smaller service, but now that taosplaza.com is pushing toward tens of thousands of pages, it became necessary to move to a much larger server facility in a major city.

Upgrading to Web 2.0 Dynamic Technologies
The Web is being improved constantly. One might actually say that the Web is being improved by leaps and bounds every day. As you can see, the most obvious step that is currently being taken at taosplaza.com is our new template design and navigation. The reconfiguration loads content faster, can handle way more content and opens the door to many more Web 2.0 syndication and aggregation technologies for addition of large amounts of informational content.

A Great Local Resource Plus Content That Matters
From the very beginning taosplaza.com has been about the future, just as the Web is about the future. Early June 2007. Are you wondering what's going on at taosplaza.com? Well, I'm in the process of upgrading many aspects of our main Taos entertainment and information portal site. First of all, taosplaza.com has upgraded our main dynamic technology from Mambo CMS (content management system) to the Joomla! CMS.

Secondly, taosplaza.com is sporting a new look as we switch to a completely new template design technology based completely on cascading style sheet (CSS) rather than standard html tables. This new template technology makes site operation faster and is very search engine friendly. The new look of taosplaza.com is being configured now, so look for more design changes as I play with a the possibilities of this new templating.

taosplaza.com was first registered as a domain in 1997. The site itself was first posted online in 1999 using all static content. A links section of taosplaza.com began development at that time and was later spun-off to its own links directory at taoslink.com Since 2001 taosplaza.com has grown as an online digital video magazine for information, education and entertainment.

The taosplaza.com site is a digital video movie magazine. We put our first video online in 1997 and continue to post interesting and informative digital video movie shorts on a number of topics of interest to Taos locals and lovers of Taos.

On March 8, 2005, we upgraded the taosplaza.com site to fully dynamic functioning for a much deeper browsing experience. taosplaza.com can now offer user access, a much larger database, and additional modules and components such as current moonphase, RSS syndication output and other fun features such as daily ski reports and horoscopes.
